Why isn't my barcode working?

1924 views   |   118 Vote this question as useful.   124 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Feb 13, 2013    barcode offcampus off-campus

First, check to be sure you're using the right number. Your barcode number is 14 digits long and will start with '28153'.

If you are using the correct number and it still isn't working, you'll need to contact a librarian to have your account re-activated. Accounts are reset every semester, and a number of things, including transferring and late registration, can cause your account to be missed.

Just give us an email at library@ muskingum.edu, call us at x8152, or talk with us via chat and we'll get your account fixed ASAP.

I can't find the full text of my article. Can I still get it?

1773 views   |   116 Vote this question as useful.   123 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Feb 13, 2013    full text article

Yes!

Vist our article request form to request an article the Muskingum University Library does not own. We'll see if we can find it for you at another library.

You'll need to know all the basic information for your article (title, journal, date, author), but you do not need your student ID.

Usually, articles are free and fast, but occasionally they can take awhile. Be aware that an article you request could take as long as two weeks. There may be a charge for an article, but we will never order an article that will cost you money without asking you first.

We are able to take attendance at Author Talks. Just let us know in advance.

What is a scholarly article or source?

1599 views   |   114 Vote this question as useful.   120 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Feb 13, 2013    article scholarly article

A scholarly source is something you are wouldn't pick up and read just for fun; it is intended for educational or professional purposes, not entertainment. It is written by a person with a lot of education and experience with that subject area.  It went through a rigorous process of editing and approval before being published.  It cites sources and lists references. It uses formal language without slang - often using jargon related to a specific academic field.  It often is lengthy and doesn't have advertisements,  a lot of photos, or color.
